A Cocktail Born in Washington, DC

The Fresh, Vibrant Cocktail That Became a DC Bar Favorite

Some cocktails are created for the moment. Others are created by accident during a long shift behind the bar.

The Greene Goddess was born during the summer while bartending in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, DC. A friend and I started experimenting with fresh ingredients behind the bar, searching for something that felt bright, energizing, and refreshing in the summer heat.

What we landed on was magic.

Fresh-pressed cucumber juice gives this cocktail its electric green color, while gin, elderflower liqueur, and lime juice create a crisp botanical base. Lavender syrup and muddled rosemary add delicate herbal depth, making every sip feel refreshing and uplifting.

Guests loved it immediately. The vibrant green color catches your eye across the bar, and the flavor feels almost like a natural energy boost—light, clean, and revitalizing.

Today, the Greene Goddess remains one of the cocktails closest to my heart. It represents creativity, friendship, and the energy of Washington, DC summers.

Flavor Profile

The Greene Goddess is crisp, vibrant, and incredibly refreshing. Fresh-pressed cucumber juice gives the cocktail its signature green color and cooling flavor, while gin adds a botanical backbone that pairs beautifully with herbs.

Elderflower liqueur and lavender syrup bring soft floral notes, while fresh lime juice keeps the drink bright and lively. A touch of muddled rosemary adds an earthy herbal finish that ties everything together.

The result is a cocktail that feels clean, uplifting, and energizing—like a fresh garden in a glass.
